September 14, 2026. – New York City lovers of World Music take note: Croatian singer/songwriter Elis Lovrić makes her US debut in Manhattan October 10 and 11 with two live performances and participation in the Mondo.NYC Conference from October 13-16, regaling audiences with music in multiple languages and dialects and transforming the sounds of her native Istria, Croatia into an expression felt in every corner of the world.
Elis Lovrić’s music revolves around her ancestral Labinjonski, the ancient, endangered microlanguage of the Istrian hamlet of Labin now granted status as Protected Intangible Cultural Heritage of Croatia and which she, as a Cultural Ambassador, has carried to the world at large with its unique sounds, Mediterranean emotion and theatrical storytelling (she is also an actress).
Her NYC tour launches Saturday October 10th at Episcopal Actors’ Guild Hall, second floor of the landmark Little Church Around The Corner on 29th Street between Fifth and Madison Avenues. It starts at 3pm with a programme of contemporary Croatian short film curated by Bronx World Film, pioneer art house presenter, avid promoter of Croatian film since its inception in 2011 and partner with the Croatia-based International Sound and Film Music Festival, through which it comes to know of Elis. She will crown the screening events with an acoustic concert in the intimate setting of the Guild Hall.
Her second concert, on October 11th, brings her to DROM in the East Village with Earthman featuring Sound Medicalist led by Richard Laurent or Kraze, the house music legend behind The Party who now, as Earthman Experience, fuses voice, chanting, sitar and congas in a hypnotic crossroads of rhythm, sound and cultures. Audiences can now follow lyrics in English in real time, onscreen and on their phones, through the InConcert Lyrics software.
Elis Lovrić winds up her whirlwind US debut with participation in Mondo.NYC, an annual four‑day music, arts, and technology business conference set for October 13–16 at the Arlo Williamsburg Hotel in Brooklyn.

He’s born as a grown-up man in a suit. They follow him, cheering his theatrical but utterly pointless performances. In the middle of one performance he makes a mistake and his adorers abandon him. Left alone, he meets a woman made for him. The performances continue…
Illogical (SCR/DIR Nimai Kolega and Edi Erceg, CROATIA, 2025, 14 min. Farce). In the lowest-achieving class of the worst high-school in the city, a group of misfit friends wait for their Logic professor who’s fifteen minutes late. As they explore ways to cheat on the test, one of them goes to the bathroom only to discover... the COLD body of their professor, motionless on the floor in front of the classroom. They drag him in and start figuring out how to handle the situation. Vito, who slides into being the leader naturally, suggests that they maybe hold off on reporting the DEAD BODY so they can have more free time, while Lana, who typically doesn’t allow ANYONE to lead her, makes the claim that they have a moral obligation to call the ambulance. The class gets divided and an argument ensues.
The Sphere (SCR/DIR Manuel Šumberac, CROATIA/SWITZERLAND, 2022, color, 13:00. Animation, Drama). A shift in routine disrupts the harmony between Io and the Sphere, destroying their coexistence with a new, different reality, rules and routine. “Through the infinite cycle fragment shown… I explore the relationship between individual and system, the interconnectedness, codependence and interdependence of beings and phenomena. I aim to depict poetically the deviation from established rules that causes harmony to be replaced by disorder in which the whole is broken down to basic elements.
Some Sci-Fi Film (SCR/DIR Matej Žitkoviċ, CROATIA, 2025, 11:42. Sci-fi comedy). A blockbuster. Amateur blockbuster. An amateur, low-budget blockbuster. Not gonna lie here, actually. It’s a no-budget blockbuster.
To Thy Heart (DIR/SCR Ewa Borisewicz. CROATIA. 2014. TRT 10:08). “He was so handsome, with his jet-black hair, standing by the swing. When he smiled, eyes would stand on end. It was schizophrenic - he was so messed up that she would do whatever he said. She wanted to listen to his sweet-talking, wanted him to talk until the moon was up. Then she stopped pinning her hopes on him. She couldn’t let him off so easily for his betrayal.” Ewa Borysewicz’s animation is a secular litany and a story of affection ending in bitter disappointment, echoing through a tower block estate.
The Black Smoke of Prediction (SCR/DIR Damir Šuša, CROATIA, 2025, 09:08 min. Comedy). ...Of how the space forces of a small country head to the newly discovered planet New Paradise as part of a space exploration program.
Out from the Deep (SCR/DIR Katrin Novakovic. CROATIA. 2013. TRT 06:52). No peeking, please! Modern life has isolated us and made us somewhat detached. The Good Old Swing Octopus comes to the rescue! Emerging from the depths of the sea, it brings life to our jaded city souls.
Five Aunties (SCR/DIR Sanjin Stanić, CROATIA, 2023, 4:04. Music video.) A clarinet player in a rundown cottage. A dreamlike, snowy exterior. Five peasant women trudge through the snow after a hard day’s work. The “five aunties” reach the wine cellar, where they gradually relax, drinking away their troubles. As they become chattier and tipsier, we learn what’s eating them. While their clothes and surroundings belie them as women of tradition, their worries and behavior reflect the timeless neuroticism and comedy of overblown problems described in the song. The calm presence of five female singers throughout emphasizes the increasing grotesquerie.
The Girl Who Loved Fairy Tales (DIR/SCR Čejen Cernić. CROATIA. 2014. TRT 03:41). ‘Once upon a time, there was a princess who loved...’ This would be a typical beginning of a fairy-tale, then a prince would come and save the princess and they would live happily ever after. But what if the prince brings the princess down to earth? This film starts there and illustrates familiar situations - which, of course, aren’t the ones we find in fairy-tales...
